Currently the
following databases with inventory data and/or scripts are available for
SimaPro:
Australian LCA Database (Centre for Design)The Australian LCA Database was initially developed as part of a joint project between the Centre for Design at RMIT and the Co-operative Research Centre for Waste Management and Pollution Control. Over the five years since its initial development data has been updated and new data added work undertaken at the Centre for Design and by other SimaPro users around Australia. The data includes fuels, electricity, transport, building and packaging materials, waste management and some data on agricultural production. The database is made available to all SimaPro users in Australia and New Zealand. The most version of the Australian database includes uncertainty data in energy processes to enable Monte Carlo analysis. Uncertainty data will be progressively implemented in the Australian database over the next 6 months. You can download the data from Australian and New Zealand users page.
Eco-inventDetailed information on ecoinvent can be found here ETH-ESU 96Focus: Energy. Electricity generation and related processes like transport, processing, waste treatment. Includes 1200 unit processes and 1200 system (results) processes. Extensive documentation provided. Source: ETH-ESU. Licensed database. Availability: Included in standard database (commercial and educational versions). Download ETH-ESU 96 Database Manual (PDF, 0.8 MB) Dutch Input Output databaseFocus: Economic Input Output database, for us on it own or in hybrid LCA studies. Starting point was an overview of how the average consumer distributes its spending over 350 categories, such as buying tomatoes, driving to work and maintaining the garden. A link was made between these categories and the economic sectors. The economic input output table was used to trace the trade flows between these sectors. We also introduced foreign input output tables for the OECD and non OECD regions. This allows us to actually trace the impact of goods produced outside the Netherlands. Source: own data collection, as part of a project Availability: Included in standard database (commercial and educational versions). Download Dutch Input Output Database Manual (PDF, 0.4 MB) BUWAL 250 databaseFocus: Packaging materials (plastic, carton, paper, glass, tin plated steel, aluminium), energy, transport, waste treatments. Source: BUWAL 250, 2nd edition. Fully documented and licensed database. Availability: Included in standard database (commercial and educational versions). Download BUWAL 250 Database Manual (PDF, 0.7 MB) INDUSTRY DATAFocus: Inventory data provided by industry assocations. Mostly cradle to gate data. Source: various, APME. Availability: Included in standard database (commercial and educational versions). IDEMAT 2001 databaseFocus: Engineering materials (metals, alloys, plastics, wood), energy, transport. Source: Data collection from various sources supervised by Dr. Han Remmerswaal, Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, Delft Technical University, The Netherlands. Availability: Must be purchased separately. FRANKLIN US LCI databaseFocus: North American inventory data for energy, transport, steel, plastics, processing. Source: Data collected by Franklin Associates, USA. Fully documented and licensed database. Availability: Must be purchased separately. Download Franklin Database Manual (PDF, 0.6 MB) Data archiveFocus: Materials, energy, transport, processing, waste treatment. Source: Variety of older public sources (PWMI, BUWAL 132, ETH, SPIN, Chalmers, Kemna). Availability: Included in standard database (commercial and educational versions).
Dutch Concrete database and scriptsFocus: Dutch data related to all aspects of concrete production and use. Can be used in combination with scripts. Data and scripts are in Dutch. Source: Betonplatform, the Netherlands. Availability: Free for Dutch users with service contract. Available on request for other customers with service contract, however no language support is given. This database is protected against copying and export. Further information and download (in Dutch). IVAM 4.0 databaseFocus: Materials, transport, energy and waste treatments. Mostly focused on Dutch data. More information Source: Data collected by IVAM Environmental Research, Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Also ETH/BUWAL and PRé data included. Availability: Purchase from IVAM Environmental Research. The price is 1575 Euro, excluding VAT. FEFCO database and scriptsFocus: European data on corrugated board production, partially based on BUWAL 250. Includes scripts to model the production and life cycle of corrugated board. Source: FEFCO, European Association of Corrugated Board Manufacturers, Belgium. Availability: Only together with SimaPro Light license through FEFCO.
