Advantages of SimaPro

With a user friendly tool such as SimaPro, you and your students can focus on the real issue: learning the concept of LCA by doing it.

Students can quickly build product models with the handy LCA Wizard. Powerful analytical tools give direct insight in the origins of results. Further, students can write down their project outline and observations in the convenient LCA Explorer.

SimaPro comes with extensive documentation, such as a practical Introduction into LCA and a Tutorial to give hands-on experience.

Educational SimaPro versions have almost the same functionality as the standard versions. They come with extensive inventory databases and a range of impact assessment methods. Additional databases, such as the ecoinvent database, are available. In return, we expect you to use these licenses only for educational purposes.

Educational versions

For educational use, SimaPro 7 is available in 3 versions: the multi user Classroom version, the Faculty or campus license plus the advanced PhD version.

SimaPro is flexible: if you want a different version, you can simply switch without loss of data.

SimaPro 7 Classroom

The SimaPro 7 multi user version is a client server network version for up to 40 users. All students work in the same database, and can cooperate within the same project. Passwords and user rights  are simply created using our User creation wizard. By logging in as manager, the lecturer can simply follow the progress of his or her students.

The functionality of this educational version is comparable with the SimaPro Compact. The SimaPro Classroom version is available as indefinite license or temporary license for 12 months.

The ecoinvent database is optional.

SimaPro 7 Faculty

The SimaPro 7 stand alone version that you can distribute to all students in your faculty or department. The functionality of this educational version is comparable with the SimaPro Compact.

The SimaPro Faculty license is only available as a temporary license for 6 or 12 months. After expiration, the software will run as demo version. Data in the database are kept as they were. Reregistering with a new code will revive the software.

The ecoinvent database is optional.

SimaPro PhD

The advanced single user version for detailed analysis of LCA results. Apart from the normal functionality, you can apply Monte Carlo analysis, analyze results in greater details and use the process tree window. The PhD version also supports parameterized modeling and scenario analysis.

The functionality of this educational version is comparable with the SimaPro Analyst. The SimaPro PhD version is available as indefinite license or temporary license for 6 or 12 months. The ecoinvent database is optional.

Order information

SimaPro can simply be ordered with our fax order form.

A free first year educational service contract is included with indefinite licenses. This ensures you of regular database and software updates and access to our helpdesk.

Temporary licenses are available for various time periods. Service is included for the license period. After the license has finished, the software will run in demo mode: you can still access and print your data, but no longer edit it.

To keep SimaPro affordable, the ecoinvent inventory database is not included in educational versions. It can be ordered as an additional license.

Note that educational versions may only be used for educational purposes and are not to be used for any commercial activities.
