Special LCA Course on Consequential LCA  with Bo Weidema from LCA2.0 in Denmark run by in February 2009

Melbourne, February 23rd and 24th 2009

This one off course will be run by Bo Wediema from LCA 2.0

This two day course will be an opportunity to learn specialised LCA skills from one of the most experienced international experts in LCA.  The day covers two of the most challenging aspects of LCA

bulletthe use and practice of consequential LCA; and
bulletthe integration of process and input output LCA .

Consequential LCA attempts to model the results of decisions using marginal assessment approaches taking account of market conditions and constraints on production.

Input output LCA models are sector level environmental LCA models based on economic data and this can is a valuable resource for LCA, especially when it can be integrated with process LCA data.

The draft agenda for the course will cover the following.

The course specifically will cover:

·         Decision making contexts

·         System boundaries in economic and environmental assessment

·         System boundaries in life cycle assessments (LCA)

·         Consequential LCA – why, when and how?

·         Stepwise procedure for expanding system boundaries in LCA

·         Introduction to input output LCA

·         Coupling of I/O LCA and process LCA

·         Life cycle costing and material flow analysis with input output tables.

 Place  - Melbourne

Prerequisites: This course assumes good understanding of basic LCA practice

Cost for two days will be $1000

In house and Tailored Training

Life Cycle Strategies  can provide specific tailored training on the use of SimaPro for undertaking LCA.  With internal training the content can be specific to your sector and can be pitched in two parts - one for those who need to know about it, and one for those who need to do it.   Email Fran@lifecycles.com.au to enquire.

LCA Training run by the Centre for Design at RMIT University
The Centre for Design at RMIT runs periodic two day course in life cycle assessment which includes practical projects using SimaPro.

Melbourne on October 13th and 14st 2008
